🥋 Is Alfa Romeo 147 A Good Car
Alfa Romeo already has a hard time finding enough buyers for its good looking, fine-driving Stelvio when flogging SUVs is supposed to be like shooting fish in a barrel. An electric C-segment hatch
Best Alfa engine was the 12v 3.0 V6 in the 164. Apart from the odd head gasket it was another properly engineered 'money no object' engine that was simply fabulous. The 24v version gave more top end power but somehow it was never as nice and reliability of the early versions was shocking.
The 147 GTA, however, had a Brembo braking package with 305 mm by 288 ventilated front brake discs and 276 mm by 10 mm solid rear discs. Euro NCAP testing, a 2001 three-door Alfa Romeo 147 hatchback - fitted with a 1.6-litre engine - received a three star adult occupant protection rating with a score of 21.35.
If a standalone system is really still desired, look on the Gendan website. Autel equipment is quite good. At the risk of appearing pedantic, OBD2 is US protocol and EOBD is for European cars. It's a good point though. EOBD is an enhanced version of OBD2 so it's not unusual to see odd codes being reported by OBD2 readers as they get confused.
A hugely popular car on the classic scene, it’s why you’ll never struggle to find an Alfa Romeo for sale here on Car & Classic. Alfa Romeo classic cars are always in demand, be it a classy, agile GTV or a boxy but beautiful 75. Or maybe a vintage Alfa Romeo, what with the company’s long, long history. Alfas are up there in the rarified
Good performance with very strong pull at low and medium speeds. (pretty good traction as well). At motorway speeds (70 mph+) the torque when overtaking seems less effective and immediate than I had anticipated perhaps due to the low rpm in top gear. Great looking and comfortable car with more than enough practicality.
Buyer beware. In reality, the Giulia’s reliability claims are a mixed bag. Current owners seem to love them and not have many if any, issues since 2017. However, Car and Driver ran into a host of issues with their long-term Quadrifoglio during their 40,000 miles of long-term testing. So in general, as with any other car, you never really know

By the mid-1980s Alfa Romeo had pretty much conquered the rust issue but product planning seemed, at best, haphazard. It was one of the few manufacturers still making mid-sized rear-wheel-drive cars but was having trouble in making real advances; the 1984 Alfa 90 sedan was really not much more than a reskinned Alfetta with a V6 engine, power steering and a hotch-potch cabin full of gimmicks
Rasping engines and super-quick steering show that the Alfa Romeo 147 was designed to be a sporty car, but where a VW Golf GTI or BMW 1 Series stay smooth and controlled over bumpy roads,
The Alfa Romeo 147 began as a concept car called Project 937 back in the year 1998. Making it’s world debut in the year 2000, the Alfa Romeo 147 is available in both 3-door and 5-door hatchback
My 147 Sport Q2 clicked over 124,000 miles just prior to Christmas. As I was driving it yesterday I found myself thinking "what a great little car this is". I bought it 7 years, no almost 8 years, ago and spent some money on getting it mechanically good. It had 72,000 miles on when I bought it and the suspension was very creaky.
